Do not understand why they do not keep a cage over the propellers... a cage will not really make a different to the power/push. But such simple thing would reduce many pointless deaths.

One of the saddest stories that of Luna the orca who loved the company of humans too much!im generally against keeping orca in captivity but if their was a case for an orca to be in captivity it was Luna!

What a magnificent creature. They are careful and intelligent, yet savage predators. One can only marvel at them.

I wonder if they would accept us into their society if we could keep up. Like humans and other animals have. It would be cool to swim with orca and dolphins.

maybe it is trying to call for help if any of it's pod members have got stranded somewhere because if you see it with brain rather than a open football like organ filled with dung , you should understand it might be trying to guide or take you somewhere perhaps

Sorry but the person/people they sent out there did not even bother trying to reunite him with his pod. They were only 200 miles out. Why would you not lead him to where he belongs and leave him in a place where a big boat can kill him?

This Orcas story is so sad. That “professional” they brought it she was completely useless. Could they not teach an orca that a thing under a boat that’s sharp, metal and spinning really fast will hurt you?? I think that’s something an Orca would learn easily has anyone bothered to teach him. But worst of all his pod was only 200 miles out. Why the hell did you not try and reunite them? They would have most definitely been happy to have him back. They brought in a fool not a professional and it cost everyone dearly. She did nothing! The one thing she did was try to ban interaction with humans. To not even try to take him out and reunite him with his pod is just idiotic. He was 2 when he got separated, a baby! So your reasoning for not even trying was they might not accept him and then what?? First of all they would accept him because his mother is more than likely there and thought she lost him somewhere. Male orcas are mamas boys they can stay with mom forever but you see how curious he was about people he probably got separated because he found some people to play with. At any rate you people did nothing for him and I really don’t know what is the point of you!

The fact that they love interacting is great, as humans obviously enjoy interacting with them. Same goes for large whales, and dolphins. But as any biologist will tell you, treat wildlife with respect. These animals are bigger and more powerful than we are...they are not toys. Some years ago, I read a horrifying account of a mature chimpanzee attacking his owner and a family friend who he knew. If memory serves, he actually killed his owner, who had owned him since he was an infant. The family friend came to the scene of the attack after receiving a phone call from the owner prior to her demise, and called 911 upon arriving at the scene. The poor woman, even though the chimpanzee had known her for years, was also attacked. The news accounts reported that the chimpanzee actually ripped the woman's jaw out of her face. It was a miracle she lived. And now just the other day there is a news story of tourists snatching bear cubs out of a tree to take selfies. Have they lost their ever lovin' minds? The first thing I would think in a situation like this is...where's Mama? The next thought would be...where's the closest exit? The majority of bear attacks take place when a female is defending her cubs. And I'm just gonna grab a cub for a selfie? Interact with wildlife, pay the price...don't be dumb...
